There is a fascinating way in which this story draws parallels between the people and the characters they display: Jules/Aphrodita and Preston/Pitbull, which ultimately ends up confusing ("_it's like she was the real me and I was the performance_"). So the encounters in this revenge thriller that addresses much deeper layers of self-affirmation, masculinity, violence and sexual attraction, end up blurring the lines that separate both characters. The film makes it possible to reject the characters' decisions and at the same time identify their vulnerabilities, which builds a complex story that always takes an uncomfortable position.

A cinematic masterpiece. Great cast too. They don’t do movies like this anymore. Wouldn't be understated to say this is perhaps the best LGBTQ movie I've seen the past decade. It could have used an extra 30min to make it a [spoiler]good ending[/spoiler] though

That homophobe was really into gay sex. But seriously, this film was way too traumatic from the point of the view of the victim. Letting yourself, knowingly, get repeatedly sexually and emotionally abused by a psychopath just to make them consider that deep down they are only like that because of their anger and confidence issues just doesn't sit right. It starts with an assault and ends with assault. What sort of 'revenge' was had here is strange because in a way it was unintended (he didn't even know he was going to be at the show). Only the viewer sees the change in the character while the victim's catharsis has been achieved prior. The performances are next level though.

This film will keep you on the edge of your seat. Tells an important message but will not hold your hand and tell you it’s going to be alright. The film wants you to be uncomfortable because this is the reality for some. This is my movie of the year so far. Highly recommended. Trigger warning: Intense Violence

Gripping and unpredictable. A very good movie.
