A pretty good emotional drama. Only if it had the mystery thriller element, would've been much better..

Oh man, what a movie. Maybe not for everyone but its a must watch for those who appreciates good story telling with some good movie making. If Hollywood has "Mystic River", we have "Gargi". 9/10

Brilliant, Compelling, Hard-hitting, Gargi is an extremely moving and riveting episode of a young woman's life fighting to prove her father's innocence. Gautham Ramachandran's latest is well written drama performed with true conviction by the entire cast. Gargi slowly gets under your skin with its sharply written screenplay and keeps getting interesting as the film progresses. A monumental performance by Sai Pallavi is bound to shake you and leave you speechless. Kaali Venkat as Indrans is phenomenal as well. The music is refined and adds to the necessary gravity of the entire film. The rock music-inspired song and humor seemed inconsistent during the film as for me it didn't match the tone but both are easily excused because of such a powerful rest of the film. Overall, Gargi is a compelling drama that subverts the cliches we usually associate with genre films like this, and leaves you stimulated with important things unsaid yet visually presented.
