That was a lot darker than I remember.

A little pig decides he doesn't want to be ham and ends up being a sheepdog. That simple and that magical. Babe is one of those movies that work because they take their absurd premise seriously. The animatronics mixed with real animals create a world that still feels alive today. James Cromwell barely speaks but conveys everything with his eyes. And Babe is the purest protagonist cinema has ever given, polite, brave, unable to understand why things "have always been done this way."

One of the cutest pig movies ever made. Memorable and genuinely sweet, with a pig character that made you care. Not the best writing, but wins with heart.

It has easily been twenty years since I have seen this film, and it was almost exactly how I remember it! While it will never be one of my favorite childhood films, it was super cute and one I will look to revisit with my kid eventually. Rating: 3.5/5 - 80% - Would Recommend
