The Last Boy Scout is one of those 90s films that has been lost with time, but I am here to say that this film is awesome and is almost like the Die Hard sequel we never got. The comedy is so on point and I found myself laughing until I almost started crying and as for the action it is super well shot. But the reason I say this is like the sequel we never got is that this film gave me the same feeling the first film gave me and I wouldn't be surprised to find out that this was originally supposed to be a Die Hard film. Also, Damon Wayans (who I am not a fan of) is really great in this film giving the film the comedic boost but also adds the more serious side at the same time. My conclusion, if you like 90s Bruce Willis (when he cared about the movies he made) and are also a fan of the Die Hard franchise then this is a must-watch!!!!
"Water is wet, the sky is blue, women have secrets. Who gives a fuck?" I just love that little dance Bruce Willis does at the end of the movie. Fantastic stuff. Anyway the Last Boy Scout is everything you want out of a early 90's action movie. A Shane Black script, Bruce Willis in his prime, buddy cop stuff, great action, one-liners, jokes, a alright plot, a gun inside a stuffed animal, memorable opening, Tony Scott as the director, Halle Berry looking as beautiful as ever, fun bad guys and a fun ending. The Last Boy Scout was a fun rewatch and peak Bruce Willis never fails to entertain me.
[La Sexta] Despite the obvious competition of egos, Tony Scott finally achieves an entertaining action buddy movie that is, however, more brutal and simpler than other scripts by Shane Black. But Bruce Willis manages to bring to his field a character that reorients towards his greatest virtues, and it is as effective as a comic.
The older I get, the less I remember the plot and the more I remember the lines. Thirty-five years later, I still use quotes from this movie in everyday conversations. At some point, The Last Boy Scout stopped being a film and became part of the vocabulary.
Water's wet, sky's blue and this movie is an all times classic. They don't make great ones like that anymore!
