It's a bit strange to see a neo-noir from a director famous for comedies. The film is stylish and good. On Christmas Eve, two people hit the jackpot and run away, because the owner of the money is ruthless. You can't trust anyone, even a beauty. I would say the film is about escaping loneliness. Noir tropes intensify the melancholy in the soul. Of course, the ending is saccharine, but miracles happen on holidays!
Loose, uninteresting and quite honestly, a very boring character study. Definitely not Cusack's or Ramis' best on display here.
Robbing the sloppy Kansas mafia.
The Ice Harvest is a dark comedy from director Harold Ramis. This Christmas tale follows a slick, self-hating mob lawyers who pulls off a daring heist from his boss, but has trouble getting out of town before the mob catches up with him. The cast includes John Cusack, Billy Bob Thornton, and Connie Nielsen, but their performances are weak and uninteresting. Additionally, the storytelling is poor, and all the characters are ugly and unsympathetic. Not the least bit entertaining, The Ice Harvest is a drab and humorless film.
Not much interesting plot wise but enough. All the filler dialogue and scenes are OK to watch. Christmas mob style.
