At war time, some people get new opportunities

A French-Italian period comedy that's lighter and more charming than the title suggests - but the incestuous subplots are where it loses me completely and they're hard to just brush past. The WWI backdrop and period production are genuinely well done. There's a certain breezy quality to it that keeps it watchable. But the subject matter involving a 16-year-old makes several scenes deeply uncomfortable regardless of how the film frames them as fantasy. That's not a time period thing - it's just wrong. Watch it for the period aesthetics if anything. Everything else is questionable at best.
