Fountains of Blood (alt title). It's just gore for the sake of gore, on average a death every 2 minutes to the point where you don't give a shit about any of the characters. You know anyone who is in the frame will be killed in the next 2 minutes. Some good action and acting...but meh.
The blood budget must have been through the roof for this one.
I saw this one at a festival, not knowing what I'm getting into... and I was pleasantly suprised.Good acting, suprising story with some fun scenes - also very gory. I really liked it.
When you've been watching an hour of violence and blood, it suddenly shifts to more violence and a different plot.
I was ready to give this one at least an "8" possibly even a "9" (an extreme rarity for me) but I had to dock it a couple of points simply because (1) the ending was "there" but they could've tightened it up somewhat. I mean, you were _supposed_ to figure out what was what - and you could, easily enough - but I felt they could've made it far less ambiguous. For me, the final scenes wound up taking a great deal away from the earlier "fun" and violent nonsense that this movie was all about. It's like they (the writers, producers, director) had a barrel of laughs in putting this movie together - and yes, there were parts of it that were absolutely hilarious in spite of the gruesomeness - but at the very end, they said, _"How can we make this into a dramatic, serious ending?"_ Honestly, it just kind of fell flat with those last few scenes. Also (and maybe this is just me) there was no explanation for the title of the movie: _Project Wolf Hunting_ I need to know why and where you came up with a title, or you lose me. "Project" I could understand but there was no explanation in the entire film as to the "wolf hunting" so you're left wondering, Did they just pick some random title out and go with it? Who knows? Apart from those two minor detractions, however, this was absolutely a blast. I have to rate this right up there with _The Sadness_ as far as violence and bloodshed goes. There are some incredibly gruesome, violent movies out there (search for them) but so many of them are just ... they're more than "ridiculous"; they're just flat out STUPID. There's no storyline, no point, no destination, just "How much violence and bloodshed can we put into a single film?" in some of these ultra-violent films. Here, however, that is NOT the case: there IS a story, there is an idea (granted, it's weird and unfathomable) but at least it gives credence to the film and to all the bloodshed. If you enjoy ultra-violent, really bloody...I mean, we're talking FOUNTAINS of spurting arteries, severed limbs, throats ripped out, etc ... then there's a good chance you'll get a kick out of _Project Wolf Hunting_ . It is a Korean movie, but Amazon Prime does have English subtitles (not dubbing, although I think there may be a version, if that's your bag) so it's easily watchable. Don't expect Oscar-award-winning acting but then, we don't watch these movies for that kind of depth, do we? This was a blast all the way around, but personally, I was just a bit disappointed in the very lame ending. They tried to make it serious, and there was nothing serious about this film. It was just a lot of bloody, violent fun.
