The setup is perfect: a lonely female scientist who has had questionable luck in the dating world is asked to try out a humanoid for three weeks. That humanoid is supposedly made just for her, although the film never really gets into what the means (the few times it is addressed the woman seemed surprised that an aspect of the bot was specific to her preference). I think this movie is a fine entry into the "what is a relationship" genre. While my favorite movie in this area will always be Her I think this movie isn't too far behind. The struggle to show the areas where the humanoid filled and did not fill holes in the woman's life was extremely interesting. A german "Black Mirror" Episode.

_What could be wrong with being happy?_ I greatly enjoyed this film, as another commenter mentioned it is very similar to _Her_, one of my favorite films. The premise was simple and we aren't given too much detail into the technical aspects of a robot that's tailored to your personal preferences, but the movie carries itself on the dialogue between the two main characters and their struggle to connect to each other emotionally. If A.I. is a topic that interests you, I would highly recommend watching this film. The pacing was fantastic and there's some decent humor scattered about it.

Like sex with a robot: it executes its program flawlessly but the absence of a human touch leaves the encounter frustrating. While this creature feature contained nuance and subtlety, there was a coldness and lack of spark that meant the film often just sat there with all of the potential of an appliance that wasn't plugged in. Another shortcoming of the film was the sudden change in the lead character's attitude which came swiftly yet with no real explanation or justification. Oh well, the film will carry you without lifting you up, and don't expect to feel touched or moved. (Oddly enough, this is the second feature film about living with an android I've seen this week -- the other being the aggressively insulting French feature L'homme Parfait / Uman - The Perfect Man.)

(Im German and know our movies normally aren't the best xD) I think Stevens being english helped having him sound more like a robot, he aced that role! (and his german is great) all in all I was surprised by the quality and how much I actually enjoyed that movie + it was refreshing to watch a movie in my own language for once, without it sounding weird xD (I don't like synchronized stuff) [/spoiler]
