Very disappointing and needlessly brutal.

Stressfull movie, one of my new favorites

Joey works for a local gangster. He's supposed to get rid of a gun, but keeps it at his house instead. Then the neighbour's kid steal it to shoot at his violent father, and all goes to shit for Joey. He then spend the rest of the movie running after this gun and everybody gets involved. A good action movie. Action never stops, it's tense from beginning to end. Quite a few twists in the action to keep it interesting, you can't believe the shit that gun is going through, [spoiler]used by the kid, picked up by the janitor, lost playing poker, sold to a pimp, etc[/spoiler]. You also get to see all the classic characters you would expect, everybody trying to get the gun (or Joey) or coming in contact with it: Joey's own gang, the Ukrainian mafia, a prostitute, the local pimp, dirty cops, etc. Also some more exotic ones like a posh pedophile couple. Paul Walker is **very** intense as never stops for a second chasing either the gun or the kid. One of the better use of an intro scene with a twist I've seen in a while. [spoiler]While the intro lets you think Joey is trying to save the hurt kid, when the action catch up you realize he's the one who is badly hurt.[/spoiler] However, the final surprise twists are total shit. They're surprising yes, but only because they make not a bit of sense. [spoiler]He's a cop ?[/spoiler] Seriously ? That kinda justifies his action in the very beginning, though the one given at the time was good enough. But for all the rest ? [spoiler]They were apparently on the verge of arresting the gang, so why all this to get the gun ? If it just surfaces now, it will speed things up anyway. I mean the whole police force gets here a few hours later anyway. He's also acting like a criminal and kills people when he's supposed to be at the end of his undercover mission. And the fake death ? Come on ! What for ? He's literally just staying with his wife and kid right after his fake burial. Who was that for ? Specially knowing most of the people involved have just been killed by him or through his actions.[/spoiler] Those are really cheap shots, not only uselessbut that seriously diminish the quality of the movie. Anyway, despite that it's full of action and surprises. Some very memorable scenes like the ice rink fight and the whole pedophiles storylne. And most of the other twists are pretty good.

I was surprised to see that so many people enjoyed this. Yeah it has nonstop action and is very gritty and brutal, but it gets tiring after a while. I will say, there is a scene with Vera Farmiga where she has to do something and the whole time I was cheering. This is a dark movie.

A good action thriller with the late Paul Walker. While the story becomes at points a bit forced in order to advance the plot, it is in general good for this type of movie. IGood entertainment recommended for all fans of the genre.
