Eddington dares to show us what we've become. It offers no advice, no solutions, no path forward, only a stark reflection of a society addicted to outrage, overstimulation, and moral apathy. This provocative allegory portays a soul-crushing world that is intolerant, self-absorbed, and indifferent to truth, with unflinching clarity. The acting and cinematography are superb, and the soundtrack is constantly hinting at something nefarious. It may be too slow for our now fractured attention spans, but Ari Aster tells a story that needs to be confronted and reckoned with.
Overrated, mindless, trash… just like the events and hive-minded idiocy that inspired it all. I had to force myself to watch it all the way through, in hopes of some modicum of reason or sense. It never appeared.
Stick with this one. The first 30 minutes is a little slow, then descends into a rabbit hole faster than you can say “do your own research”. A must watch.
Sorry, got bored after 20 minutes.
This movie takes on the nowadays so omnipresent extreme positions, particularly in American society, propagated by the news and so called “Social Media”. While the COVID-19 part seems a bit dated, it is though very close to how it was for some people. The movie also shows that on both sides, the extreme positions and unwillingness to move are equally stupid. The movie does then exaggerate the possible outcomes due to this world view where one side identifies by the hatred of the other side. Though a bit too far, it does not altogether seem impossible that this could happen in real life. A movie to think and discuss about. By the way, the acting is just impeccable!
