I am not the kind of critic who will criticize a tragic true story directed and co-written by a family member directly affected by the calamity. What I will say is that this film is well made about the oldest problem in the world: the hardship of being a farmer. But if you think being a farmer is hard, try watching this film. Do we really need more proof that God hates farmers? Seriously, the lead character of _In the Name of the Earth_ should've been called Job instead of Pierre because we're forced to watch him subjected to catastrophe after catastrophe without one single ray of sunshine throughout the movie's 2 hour running time.
