I loved the old time Hollywood feel of this movie and the music is gorgeous. The photography was clean and classic. It has a great cast, but, and I just can’t quite put my finger on what, something was missing for it to be elevated to the level of the classic that it so clearly aspired to be. It was good but never quite made it to superb. I give it a 7 (good) out of 10. [Romantic Drama]
"Sylvie’s Love" is a romantic drama set in the 1950s and 1960s. It tells the love story between Sylvie, an ambitious woman working at a record store, and Robert, a talented saxophonist. The film follows the evolution of their relationship amid life’s challenges and social differences. The story is warm and tender, with beautiful romantic scenes and excellent performances by Tessa Thompson and Nnamdi Asomugha. The direction is gentle, and the music captures the spirit of the era in a remarkable way. The film centers on love, dreams, and sacrifices, delivering a hopeful message about faith in relationships and the future. My rating: 7/10 A wonderful film for fans of romance and classic storytelling. Definitely worth watching if you enjoy love stories with a nostalgic touch.
Old fashioned and conventional, but with players of this calibre, I didn’t mind this at all. Not a classic romance but a passable time filler nevertheless.
Nice movie. Too light to revisit, though. Tessa was great but The main actor has no charisma.
Enjoyed it! Pleasantly surprised to find out that Kerry Washington’s husband not only starred in this but produced it also.
