This is the first of several Winnetou movies. Watching it reminded me of the juvenile adventure stories that I used to read as a kid. If you can get past that, it is fun to watch. I especially liked the silly butterfly catcher who also appears in later Winnetou movies. It is more of a "Euro Western", but I have added it to my Spaghetti Western list anyway. I consider it a Spaghetti Western Prototype.
