I wasn't sure what to expect from this one, but I wasn't expecting what I got. Look, there have been many evil-kid movies: _The Bad Seed_ (1956), _The Good Son_ (1993), _The Omen_ (1976), _Orphan_ (2009), just to name a few. This one was basically
_Child's Play_ (1988), only instead of a doll, Charles Lee Ray possesses Andy.
However that may sound to you, it's all pretty boring. The movie takes a long time to get where we all know it is going. The kill count is low, and the scares are minimal. All that being said, this isn't terrible: the movie does capture a creepy feel the entire time, not to mention part of the beginning is set during Halloween. I think the real problem here is the story requires a lot of heavy lifting, and it just buckles under the weight. The similar movies I mentioned were able to make the inciting incident work in a smooth manner. This one... well, it just seems too convenient. If there was more death in this or if the story felt less coincidental. I just needed _The Prodigy_ to do more, be less of a slow burn and get to it.
Not a good movie. We've seen this 1000 times before. No real scares, no real surprises. Mediocre at best.
Creepy movie with jump scares here and there. This movie will surely remind everyone of the movie "The Omen" and also the "Lucius" game series. 6/10
Well....this didn't end up where I thought it would. Going to give it that. Goofy plot, goofier twists, eh. Not boring and only 91 minutes.
I feel this film has been underrated, It deserves more credit because it was a decent Horror/Thriller. I loved the performance from the child actor, played his creepy role good and kept it strong all the way and even better, he never new he was doing It or did he. Overall a good film and worth your time.
