I find it hard for me to pinpoint the genre of this movie, and that's great. The town (Bacurau) is the best actor/actress presented here, which means all the good acting gave personality to this wonderful place. You'll see a lot of social and political criticism here and it's perfectly done. Unfortunately, nothing more can be said about this flick without giving away some spoilers, but rest assured, it is one of the best movies Brazil has made in a long time. 10/10
Just one thing to say: " Do Caralho!!! "
The disappearing town. The community that defends itself. The missing water. The film is a clever mix of genres. Blood-tinged political cinema. Gal Costa sounds. "Too much violence," says the most violent character. John Carpenter sounds. A dystopian western more complex than "Westworld". The strangers scenes are unbalanced. The colonization of the disadvantaged. The death is a spaghetti western. "Se for, vá na paz".
Awful acting, uninteresting characters, highly unlikely villains, poor development and plot. I couldn't care less for the deaths and the violence... really lacks at instigating empathy.
It starts a little bit slow and some things bothered me a little. But the positive aspects of this movie are enough to make you forget about every mistake that you could find in it. This is a great western, with lots of violence and powerful messages. It talks about prejudice, class warfare, social inequality and corruption. It is a fun movie that makes you think about society and our role in it.
