Tragic. Nightmarish. Lynch again hits a subconscious trauma for many people with aplomb.

David Lynch's first serious attempt at film feels a bit too homemade and naive, but considering the time it was shot and the means he had at that time it could be considered as a remarkable work. Here Lynch still homages earlier surrealist cinema while searching for his own style, but some of the imagery and themes that are recurrent in his more mature works can already be found. An interesting piece of history in Lynch's filmography, but as a standalone movie maybe a bit too dull and not as emotionally evocative as it was meant to be. Still one of his better short films though.
