> "It's... that damn graduation thing." Let's be honest: This movie is popular not because it's story and execution are lacking a bit, but because Tom Savini's craftmanship shines through! There are some deaths that are brutal but almost look real. There is a pitchfork scene that makes my stomach hurt and a pool scene that is unsettling. The story is a little boring at times but Tom... you are a master of making things look good.

Rather good kills and practical effects, but The Prowler has got the thinnest plot I have seen in a while. The pacing, however, is rather good and when stuff starts to happen, it really gets going. The ending is actually quite nice, and ends up being one of the better slasher endings of the early 80s. If they had worked a bit more on the story, this could have been rather good. As it stands, it lands where so many other slashers from the 80s end up... Decent, but not much more. Though... Well worth a viewing for slasher fans because of the excellent kills.

Reminded me quite a bit of the original Black Christmas. If you liked that, you’ll like this film as well.

Pretty average slasher movie, but featuring some very realistic special effects work.
