This is one of those movies from the early 2000s where they create a series of interesting characters with good backstories and a lot fo potential and then follow it up by having essentially ZERO plot or events. I wanted to badly to like this, and I just didn't.
When you know what you want, go get it, fight for it, work for it, and don't lose the opportunely, because it might not come around again, and you'll never know what would of happened. A good film, had a good sense of humour, good cast, and most of all had a good message..
And what about the dad? And Lisa's carreer in baseball? And what is George gonna do about his job? Is Annie going to be happy? Don't get me wrong, I liked this movie. That's why I'd like to know about what is going to happen to the characters! I've noticed that in this kind of movies, the characters's background and their profound psyche are not often dug out. It's more about their chemistry of the moment and the relationship they build during the time of the film. I think I've kind of got used to it now though, and I stopped asking myself too many questions. This is why I enjoyed this movie: it is full of loving and delicate moments between the characters, some are funny and others are sad, it was like a short trip into a theater play.
This movie is a classic case of the parts being better than the sum. There are so many fine actors in this movie – Witherspoon, Rudd, Wilson, Nicholson, and the underrated Kathryn Hahn. It was fine to watch because the characters are so likeable, but it was no better than that. I think there was a better movie in there.j follow me at https://IHATEBadMovies.com or facebook IHATEBadMovies
This movie feels like it was made for bimbos, the overall message in it is "There's people who will treat you better than athletes." Duh.
