This is a nice classic take on horror, and the most raw example I can think of when it comes to themes of religion and science. I loved the ending shot and the presence Alucarda (Tina Romero) had on screen. And strangely enough, while not scary, it was disturbing especially with the music which today sounds more like the menu music of a video game from the 90's. It all paints a picture that is difficult to feel in movies today. The pacing, while slow, is made up for the plot's simplicity and the short run time this movie hits.
The movie is in English, which was a nice surprise, and there's a lot to enjoy here: nudity, blasphemy, eerie atmosphere, Satan, crispy nuns. Alucarda - the titular character - is sexy, but, unholy Hell, the screaming! There's more screaming in Alucarda than an Underoath album. I recommend this to anyone who likes creepy occult movies, but pray that The Dark Lord protects your ears from the unrelenting screams.
