Don't play any Final Fantasy Games. The movie was Ok, but the CG was just breathtaking!!! Best I've ever seen. Some scenes the people actually looked real...smh
- Great plot and flow - Stunning CGI like you've never seen before ! - Insane large battles which glue you to the screen: although they get too fast at times - Just like the visuals, the sound effects also add to the depth and experience - Even if you haven't played the game, you can still enjoy the movie - Keep an eye for the post credit scene: If you're interested in seeing their backstories too, there's an ongoing mini anime series titled Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV available on the game's official YouTube channel.
Square Enix should make more movies. There CGI game is unmatched.
Not bad at all. Incredible animation, good action scenes, good plot. Worth it.
This was way better than I expected from what was supposed to be a movie tie in for a Final Fantasy game. The visuals and the soundtrack are amazing, but the movie suffers heavily from technological limitations. Fairly often, the faces are too stiff or exaggerated, which was because it was all motion capture, which cannot capture more subtle expressions all too well. Which caused overacting. As far as actors go, Aaron Paul and Sean Bean were the highlight, you could really tell they were trying, and honestly if there was someone else voicing the main characters they would fall flat. The story in many ways is another Final Fantasy story, with all the Anime tropes and pitfalls. I would suggest to go into this expecting more of a theater play, like much of Japanese Cinema and Anime is heavily inspired by. The story is slow to pick up, but I'd say the last act is the strongest. I'd say this can stand as a movie on it's own, it certainly has more depth to it than a lot of Hollywood movies over the past decade. I think this thematically stood as a foundation to FF16, the next entry, shame that Nomura couldn't make Versus XIII, which would have been a darker version of this. In my opinion, the main weakness of the story is that it does not go all the way, so to say.
