This horror-slasher has a very 1980s look and feel. It is pretty well made and the slasher effects are quite good for the time. It also has some good twists that keep the story going. The problem with the movie is though mostly that the story is told in a very confusing way so that it is difficult for the viewer to follow or to get what it means to say. Furthermore, most of the “students” in the movie are played by actors that are clearly way too old for the part. I guess that most are over 30. They are also depicted mostly as a stereotyped caricature of students. All that distracts from the story and the from the intended vibe. In summary, it is a decent movie that missed the opportunity to be above average.

Having grown up initially dismissing Happy Birthday to Me as simply cheesy, each subsequent viewing reveals a deeper appreciation for its charms. It stands out as a genuinely fun slasher film, elevated by a truly wild and memorable twist that still holds up today.

My, how time changes us... I recall this being _"one of the best ever"_ 'Horror' movies I had ever seen back when it came out in the 80's. Watched it today again and it was so lame in EVERY aspect. I seem to remember the kills being much more inventive and gruesome (trust me, they're not!) and now this is almost laughable. I was tempted to turn it off with the opening scene where "Virginia" (Melissa Sue Anderson) screeches to herself, _"Come, Winston, give Mommy head! haaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!"_ I thought to myself, _"If this is a precursor to how the acting is going to be, I should just quit right now..."_ Unfortunately, I didn't. Although touted as a "horror/slasher" movie, this is more like a whodunnit that wants to be a horror movie. And the "reveal" is far too early in the film; I was quite surprised/disappointed in how quickly they gave this one away...and afterwards, there was nothing left but to wait out the conclusion which took farrrrrrrrrrrrr too long to arrive. Save yourself 2 agonizing hours - they're better spent in a dentist's chair or at the DMV - of sitting through this horrendous tripe. There is absolutely nothing remotely "scary" or horrific about this one.

Rather like what one would expect from a made-for-tv slasher.

Interesting Canuxploitation slasher gem filmed in Montreal. It features some inventive kills and a group of teen characters that are a bit more fleshed out than the usual slasher cast. However, its ending takes a sharp left turn that feels a bit tacked-on.
