The special effects in this movie are amazing. What makes it more amazing is that all those special effects you see in this movie are made on a budget of only 5,8 million dollars. That just shows that if you got a talented and dedicated crew behind you (as director) you don't need a big budget of tens of millions of dollars to make a movie visually stunning. Unfortunately the story did not get as much attention as the special effects. A lot of the story is borrowed from other movies like The Matrix, Blade Runner and Sunshine. That is too bad, because outside Hollywood there are not that many movies that are in outer space and look so visually stunning.
Cargo is an absolute gem of a sci-fi film. Its visual effects and world-building are remarkably high-calibre, especially considering it was released back in 2009. The film creates a convincing, lived-in future that feels thoughtful rather than flashy, proving that strong ideas and atmosphere matter more than a huge budget. From start to finish, it’s an absorbing ride—moody, imaginative, and quietly ambitious. Even watching it with subtitles never broke the immersion; if anything, it highlighted how universal its themes and visuals are. Cargo is a great reminder that some of the most compelling science fiction comes from unexpected places, and it deserves far more attention than it gets.
I really enjoyed this gem. Subtitles and all. I wish there was a English version. But still enjoyed it.
A little slow at times. It looks good, but the story is meager. The ending was pretty much expected.
Not bad, I was surprised, but then it decays
