I personally haven't seen a Hallmark movie, that I know of, but I'm guessing this is what they're like. Despite having some names and the potential hijinks of a bigger movie, the beats never go too far and the scenes are always contained to be rounded off by sincerity, which typically doesn't usually happen in a bigger dramady until the final act. Gabrielle Union hasn't aged a day and is a delight to watch. As is Mo'nique. And Danny - ol' Danny is great. Everyone else doesn't stand-out in a good or a bad way. Visually, there's not much to say. It was bright, clean, fun. Pretty standard stuff. Nothing spectacular about the production either. I watched this film in two halves so I can't speak honestly about the pacing of the story overall. Each scene didn't linger too long but it wasn't thrilling. A chill, inoffensive holiday story which is a nice respite from the Home Alones or Christmas Carols (but you'll soon be missing them after).
Some sweet moments, and all the drama.
A pretty generic Christmas movie. I won't be adding this to the yearly Christmas movies.
Nothing new to see here, but it's pleasant enough. A fine ensemble cast helps, especially J.B. Smoove who adds some much welcome humour to this festive tale.
