This movie reminds me of that oft-repeated cliché of an older boxing trainer watching a younger fighter spar and remarking "the kid's got a lotta heart". It's something of a back-handed compliment. Buried within is the implication that The Kid is well-intentioned, but ultimately untalented. That's this movie, well-intentioned but untalented, and to a certain extent, that's Al Adamson as a whole. Kid's got a lotta heart.
