This film is about an aging country star (played by a singing Jeff Bridges) whose life is falling apart. On the surface the movie should work - it is a touching story (and one that's been told many times before) about a man who is slowly falling apart. The acting was solid, the setup was good... everything seemed to be in place for a great film. And it missed. Don't get me wrong - it was still well worth the time but I never really felt a connection with the characters or the story. Maybe a little more despair at the beginning would have helped, although maybe that would have just ended up in a "Leaving Las Vegas" knockoff. Good movie but by no means great.
Watching A Star is Born made me want to watch more country music movies. Jeff Bridges is fantastic. His performance really makes the movie. Maggie Gyllenhaal and Colin Farrell are both great too.
There is sobriety, but with redemption.
Crazy Heart I went into this really wanting to like it. However I was only mildly interested the whole way, apart from the scene towards the end with the boy. Bridges plays the story of a self destructive alcoholic well. I adored the soundtrack 6/10 #NicksMiniReview https://t.co/r3LshEmHEn
