Man that was fucked up
One of the most disturbing films I've ever seen, it tackles an extremely heavy subject in a realistic way, with scenes so extreme that they can be nauseating due to their repugnance. The story is well-structured and maintains a constant rhythm of tension throughout. The cinematography, in cold, pale tones, perfectly matches the heavy atmosphere of the film, and the performances are very realistic, even causing intense discomfort.
Firstly, The movie is too long. Also, There are so many disturbing scenes and dark moments.
A rather grim film and apart from the disturbing subject matter, there is little to distinguish this from any other police/detective thriller. Unfortunately, the procedural aspects are often far-fetched and the need to tie the central character's past with his current investigation borders on ridiculous at times. Instead the film relies on its subject matter to shock making it impossible to actually enjoy the film simply as a by-the-numbers thriller. The performances are fine and there are some tense moments, but this is as much down to the subject matter of the film as it is to anything else.
The bad guy is a bastard, the cop is haunted, but the worst is the woman. Depressing and too long
