Not sure what people are complaining about that nice little movie. I liked it. No matter if there are some things not fitting right. It entertained me enough to gave 7/10.

The writing and direction are awful. This story is a blatant rip-off of multiple films, such as _Super 8_, _E.T._, and _The Goonies_. It's not a terribly interesting story, and much of the acting subpar. It's a poor excuse for a film trying to mimic a Disney movie.

Pretty good film to watch my three kiddos (8, 8, 10).

If Abrams' Super 8 was a homage, Earth to Echo is bordering on blatant ripoff, both of the Abrams' film itself and of those 80s films Abrams was also referring to (specifically E.T. of course). All that was really missing were flying bikes. Even its one distinguishing feature, that of cameras carried by the cast to lend some semblance of authenticity to the story, has been done to death and the film can't overcome the inherent problem with films like this - why keep carrying the cameras when all hell breaks loose ? All that said, the central trio of children cast are likeable enough and do a good job of keeping the film watchable as the film progresses. For young children, this is probably fairly entertaining, for adults - make those children watch E.T. instead!!
