Another _In Your House_ card and this one opens with yet another match between "Hunter Hearst Helmsley" vs "Mankind". It was a decent match but probably the highlight was when Jim Ross, describing "Mankind's" fall onto Helmsley's "family jewels" says, _"That's an almost-300 lb man... 287 to be exact, and that's an estimate."_ So is it exact, JR? Or is it an estimate? LOL The match was about what you would expect: interesting but you know with that drag queen Chyna outside the ring that there's going to be interference. Next up was an interesting match - new to the WWF - between two Japanese "light-heavyweight" wrestlers. Their acrobatic maneuvers and performance definitely lit up the crowd. Cut away after this match to the "continuing" fight between "Mankind" and "Hunter Hearst Helmsley" in the parking lot, and then its time for Leon White, to do his silly _"It's time...it's time...it's Vader time time time time time...to buy me an echoplex so I don't have to keep saying this over and over"_ and square off against the Undertaker. This was in a time frame that I'm unfamiliar with, as the "Undertaker" had parted ways with "Paul Bearer" who has, by this time, become a pudgy little annoyance who can't really sell "bad" all that well. Nonetheless, the match between The Undertaker vs Vader was yet another match that was a snooze-fest but only because Mark Calaway ("The Undertaker") had to basically carry the entire match. (Leon White just really was too big to do anything other than a shoulder-block, a bodyslam, and the occasional "squash" off the second rope.) Now it's time for ...well, not yet...they have to sing _O Canada!_ (thrill a minute, folks) and then introduce all the attending "dignitaries", and then introduce the participants in the "main event" and wow... When they finally got to Bret "Hitman" Hart, you seriously could not even hear his intro music, the crowd was so deafening. I confess to being a big fan of "The Ultimate Warrior" back in the day, and he had some huge "pops" when he was introduced but this was a whole new level. If you've followed Bret Hart's WWF career, you know that squeal that immediately precedes the pulsing music he comes out to but here, you couldn't even hear that high-pitched squeal or the opening notes of his entry music, the crowd noise was so loud. Nice to know that fans appreciate their local heroes, in spite of whether that wrestler is supposed to be a "heel" (bad guy) or "babyface" (good guy). The match itself, in spite of being almost total chaos, was a blast;
you knew when Owen Hart and (moments later) Steve Austin both left the ring with a "knee injury" that they would come back, and sure enough...neither of them failed to disappoint.
And even though it might have seemed a bit "over-the-top" and even cheesy (to some), it was nice to see Canada truly appreciate a legendary figure and entire family in the wrestling industry. I found it interesting that, even with the Hart family being the obvious favorites here (this _was_ in Canada, after all) that Vince McMahon, Jim Ross, and even to a degree Jerry Lawler, used the closing of the match to "sell" Steve Austin's character. (Watch at least that final match and you'll see what I'm talking about.) Overall the card was really kind of dull, but that main event was definitely worth watching.
