When you put together a great script, with a great director and great performers you get a great movie

For it to be considered as a comedy, shouldn't it have been funny? The jokes didn't bomb, there just weren't any. It was a drama. Not that's anything wrong with that..

Old movies like this one have a certain appeal. From old forgotten brands like "Magnacola" (or was that a fictional coke brand?) to old fashion (and housemaids!). That's all interesting. Most interesting is of course the cultural changes (or what stayed the same) in the context of marriage. Seen from the perspective of the father of the bride adds an unusual angle to this. This makes this country a classic. But it's not as hilarious as I hoped and it's held back by the fact that most scenes take place in this (studio?) house that makes the movie resemble a chamber play.
