I saw this movie on late night TV, "Movies til Dawn" back in the early 1990s. I honestly don't remember much about it except
for the haunting scene when Edward Hermann's character's plane crashes and traps him in the plane. With a crowd of gawkers standing around him while he pleads to them to help him and not let him burn, Redford's character arrives on scene and admonishes everyone for gawking and not helping. But despite his efforts, the fuel is spreading, Hermann's character was still trapped, so Redford's character picks up a log and bashes Hermann to death in order to put him out of his misery of burning.
That particular scene lives in my head, and pops up unexpectedly sometimes.
At the dawn of aviation, pilots are great acrobats.
