35 minutes in and I had to tap out ,just doesn’t make any sense
Psychedelics are probably the only way you can watch this movie. I watched it on shrooms and I highly recommend it. It's a roller coaster from the beginning to the end, a master piece that will only be understood when on psychedelics.
I really can't fathom the concept of the movie without a plot. It's comical to watch the psychedelic travel with drug binge but it's really tiring to watch when there's no proper plot with no connection between scenes. Only one thing made me to watch till the end, del Toro and Depp's acting.

You could easily accuse Gilliam’s films of drowning in their own eccentricity, and no film exemplifies that quite like this one. It’s a stoner/hangout movie through and through; there’s no real plot and it mostly consists of a bunch of overstimulated scenes strung together. However, I’d argue that beneath the flash there’s real substance to be found here. It’s quite interesting how the two best stoner comedies of all time (this and _The Big Lebowski_) find themselves at odds ideologically. This movie is a pretty detailed critique of hippie culture, while _The Big Lebowski_ is an endorsement of its core values. Regardless of which side of the coin one might fall, there’s enjoyment to be found in both films. This one is brilliantly made, every artistic choice it makes I find to be very exciting. It has some of the best cinematography and editing of the 90s, a killer soundtrack that makes perfect sense for the story and so much memorable, hilarious dialogue. I’d also argue this is still Depp’s best performance to this day. 9/10
