Not sure what Zuffa was trying to do on this particular card; the event itself, along with every match, began with this pre-recorded, deep-reverb voice announcing everything in some weird Terminator-like voice that (I assume?) was meant to be terrifying and intimidating. All it succeeded in doing, however, was turning the UFC/MMA event into a roller derby/WWE event that was hard to take seriously. Honestly, this was an enormous step BACKWARD at this stage, when the UFC was still trying to get fans and newcomers to take it as a "legitimate sport" because this was just laughably bad. The whole card was weird not only because of the silly "RoboCop" voiceovers but every other UFC card - from UFC 1 to UFC 35 - started out "octagon-side" with the analysts who would be calling the match. Here, not only do they NOT introduce themselves during the opening few moments of UFC 36 but you never see them throughout the entire card and you have no idea who's calling the matches. One would _assume_ that it would be Mike Goldberg and others (thus far, they still vary from one card to the next) but it doesn't really sound like Goldie and since you never see them, and they never introduce themselves, you're left wondering who that is that keeps yammering during the fights. Yet another annoying aspect of UFC 36. There were some good matches, and there were some real yawners. Some of the matches that you **thought** would be very titillating turned into snoozers, while others were "blink of an eye" fast. Overall, there was nothing really outstanding about this one; I wouldn't waste time watching it again.
