About half way through this movie I thought I had it figured out. I thought that it was going to be your standard "here is the director's political statement disguised as a thriller". I was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be more than that. The film had several interesting themes, among them how we are all both good and evil. Without giving too much away, I really found the dance between the different factions in the movie to be the most interesting part of the film. The director did a great job of painting the symbiotic relationship between the various groups. Follow me at IHateBAdMovies.com
>"Am I talking to my friend now or am I talking to a reporter?" This is a middle-of-the-road political thriller with a few twists and turns. I have to say, why does it always involve a military conspiracy or a random girl turning up dead? Either way, Rachel McAdams and Russell Crowe are great.
good twists and excellent acting. i'm pretty sure ben affleck thrives in roles involving infidelity which like. idk what that says about him but hey.
Wow is this terrible. Nothing to see here... moving along.
Still holds up as an incredible investigative journalism/political thriller, especially for an American adaptation of an English miniseries as good as the 2003 miniseries with John Simm, David Morrissey, Kelly Macdonald and Bill Nighy. Apart from this and House of Cards, Americanized adaptations of English miniseries don't usually pan out well, but this one *absolutely* does, thanks in no small part to the master of thrillers, Tony Gilroy, along with Matthew Michael Carnahan and Billy Ray covering the screenwriting. Absolutely worth a watch if you're into both investigative journalism *and* political thrillers!
