I've been watching Ralph Sepe Jr. (Ralphthemoviemaker) videos way back when he first got started, and during those years I heard quite a lot about the making of this movie. From his Kickstarter that reached over $10,000 to the finish product. 'Lover' is by no means a perfect movie, but a good starting point for Ralph as a film maker. My main issues with the movie were that some of the technique elements, one of it being the audio, was difficult to hear at times with the conversations between other characters. I turned up the volume and it still didn't work. There were some shots in the movie that left me feeling confused, because I didn't know the purpose behind it and why it was shown on screen. Perhaps to pad out runtime for it to be feature length. Speaking of the length, I thought the first half of the movie to be slow and boring. Some of the acting was a bit iffy and not believable in certain scenes, expect for Victoria Beaudoin who was good in the movie. However, on a positive side of things, I thought the movie looked visually impressive and Ralph made great use of the camera. Black and white can make any movie look so rich and detailed. The soundtrack is the main highlight of the movie, as it is used effectively for scenes to have a huge impact. Overall rating: Just from watching his videos over the years, Ralph is the type of person that takes any feedback, good or bad, to heart as a way for him to improve. I will be looking forward to whatever he comes up next. So yeah, well done gay boy.
