I liked this; it's an unusual film. The casting is daring, but it works. The best elements of this are the visual and sound effects. It is clearly meant to look like a 70s film with plenty of psychedelic influence; shame they didn't go all-in as smartphones on a grainy film irked me a bit. It's an odd choice for Halloween Frightfest, but it's a good film, so I'm not complaining.

[Fantasia '25] Evoking the serial killer films of the 1980s, with references to Brian DePalma and David Lynch, the director constructs a hybrid film less interested in the actual crime itself than in the psychological aspects of guilt and mental manipulation that ultimately give rise to extremist gender ideologies that respond to repressed sexualities. But it does so by incorporating new technologies as instruments of control, in an unorthodox blend of comedy and techno-thriller that always remains on an equidistant path. Electronic music, digital effects, and hallucinations make up a film that is as strange as it is entertaining.
