One of the better sports movies about baseball. Good entertainment.
A quality Disney movie that I can’t believe is 20 years old. I’ve surprisingly watched this movie three times in the last two years after probably not watching it for fifteen years before then. To me, these sport movies in the early 2000’s for Disney will forever hold a special place in my heart. When this one came up in my movie club this week, I was instantly looking forward to the rewatch! Rating: 4/5 - 8.5/10 - Would Recommend
>"Your grandfather once told me it was ok to think about what you want to do until it was time to start doing what you were meant to do." This is a pretty crazy true story, so I had to look up the details. He had a surgery where they removed 85% of the deltoid in his surgery and he was somehow able to throw 10 mph faster than most players. Did the healing make his muscle tighter? Either way, Dennis Quaid does an awesome job even if the movie is a little slow at times.
I've probably watched this a dozen times over the years, and it's definitely one of my favorite sports films. It may be this remarkable story of a middle-aged man (by baseball standards) just starting his professional baseball career, but at its hearts, it's a film about a man seeking his father's approval. And, I think that anyone who ever had a father would be able to relate to this.
Great movie all around! Dennis Quaid did a great job portraying this character. And it's based on a real life events, the oldest rookie of all times. Even though I'm not a baseball fan it was very fun to watch, they don't make movies like this anymore.
