>*"I was forged in the fires of hell and abuse!"* The opening scene was so good, first kill was very Art the Clown-like and instantly sold me with the brutality and the fun villain. Elvis Nolasco is great in this goofy, over-the-top, comedic, demented role he's highly entertaining and makes this movie interesting. The concept and Mr. Crocket himself are an amalgamation of different movie references (I got *Sesame Street*, Mr. Rogers, *The Ring*, *Harold and the Purple Crayon*, *A Nightmare on Elm Street*, *Willy's Wonderland* and *I Saw the TV Glow*). It's an interesting mix but whenever Mr. Crocket isn't on-screen it's borderline boring and the story is incredibly formulaic. The kills are epic, the first one and the bubble one were the best. Catchy songs. I couldn't get enough of Mr. Crocket's evil acolyte animatronics (Mr. Chair, Benny the Bison, Boogaloo Blue, Tickles the Clock and Squawky Bird) the effects and costume designs look awesome. Wanted to know their story and how they got to be with Crocket. The TV world third act was a pleasant change of scenery, I expected a bit more visually but it was still cool. An incredible amount of exposition in that third act. The animated segment was a treat but I found the story to be half-baked and too generic. I wouldn't mind a sequel if they add a better story.
If the actors had been better, if the script had been told in more detail and depth, it would have produced a much, much better movie, but it is bad in its current form. The effects are fine. The players were really bad. If they had progressed slower and better while making the film, a very different result could have been achieved. As such, there was a production one click below the average. Good luck with your efforts.
Was this meant as a parody or an actual horror? The "monster" was so goofy (_especially_ the talking chair!) that at no point was this scary... I liked the concept though, maybe it should have gone to a different director or something?
I feel this movie/story would’ve more suited for an episode on something like Goosebumps or Are You Afraid of the Dark. It started off like it could be this fun goofy horror, but it tried to be so serious when it had ridiculous killer characters from a kids tv show lol Wanted to enjoy this one, but I was so bored
Gore parenting the movie. This need a Remake.
