I don't know where they got the wrestlers for this particular Royal Rumble but wow, this has to rank as one of the worst I've seen...yet. It _did_ have its highlights, though, such as the 1:50:48 - 1:50:58 mark where "The Ringmaster" (who would ultimately go on to wrestling fame as "Stone Cold Steve Austin") practically took "Shawn Michaels" head off with a clothesline and then mocked Michaels' little posedown in front of the fans. I actually laughed out loud at that. This was - at least, from what I've seen - the PPV introduction of Steve Austin, who at this particular time and introduction was known as "The Ringmaster". (He also still had hair!) But in addition to Steve Austin, they pulled out Jake 'The Snake' Roberts along with Dory Funk, Jr. I mean, how desperate was the WWF at this point to have to recruit some of these guys? The card itself was certainly nothing to get really excited about, with the "Rumble" being the highlight of the card. Even though she wound up being "every young boy's crush", at this point in time, "Sunny" (Tammy Lynn Sytch, who would eventually wind up in prison for manslaughter) was just obnoxious and overbearing. Additionally, the "Golddust" character only gets more obscene and repulsive, especially for a promotion that touts itself as being "family-oriented". The main event title match between Bret 'Hitman' Hart vs The Undertaker was a decent match but you knew it would have some kind of screwy ending...and it did. Very disappointing when a great match doesn't have a clear-cut conclusion. The Royal Rumble is one of my favorite WWF PPV cards but this one fell short of the mark on all counts.
