An OK mystery and an OK romantic movie. It is a bit stretched and looks like a commercial for a cruise line in some parts. But the two main characters work quite well together, and as long as you watch in Japanese (the English dub, as usual, was unwatchable) it's entertaining enough.

This film completely neglects its own murder mystery in favor of its romantic comedy elements. What starts as an intriguing whodunit setup aboard a luxury cruise ship quickly stalls because the narrative seems entirely distracted by the developing relationship between the two leads. The romantic comedy side of the equation is okay - they have a sweet, easy chemistry, and the opulent backdrop of the ship makes for some visually charming date-movie aesthetics. But as a murder mystery, it's terrible. The investigation lacks any real urgency, the clues are buried under sluggish subplots, and the final resolution feels entirely telegraphed and unearned. It works well enough if you just want a light, breezy Japanese romance to pass the time, but if you went in expecting a sharp, oceanic puzzle, it's bound to leave you feeling stranded.
