Midway is one of the classic WWII movies you should watch if you're into that genre. It has a star-studded cast even in the smallest of roles. It does not suffer from the usual clichés of the 40s and 50s movies. The love story probably wasn`t nessessary but it was important to show the internment of Americans of Japanese origin and I think it was good they included it. It may not be accurate to the smallest detail and there are several times you can make out errors in the production but, hey, it´s 1976 and there weren't any Japanese carriers around to film on.

A classic WW2 movie about the battle that probably was one of the decisive factors for the final defeat of the Japanese.

Classic. I think. War movie with a Japanese American loves story that was pointless or boring or why. Watched it and that was it. Watch it if you are bored. No weird stereotypes so that was a plus.
