The Griswolds go on one last family trip in the hilarious comedy _Vegas Vacation_. After receiving a bonus from his company, Clark Griswold takes his family to Las Vegas for fun and adventure, but things quickly spiral out of control when Clark becomes addicted to gambling. Despite some cartoonish slapstick humor, most of the comedy works and provides a clever satire of Vegas tourism. Additionally, the casting is rather good and features appearances by Wallace Shawn and Wayne Newton. It’s a long way down the Holiday Road...and _Vegas Vacation_ provides a fun filled conclusion to the hysterical journeys of the Griswolds.

'Vegas Vacation' is decent fare for this franchise, I think I just about enjoyed it. It does go through peaks and troughs, there are some uninteresting moments but by and large what I was viewing was passable entertainment. The Vegas setting and shenanigans keep it watchable, the dam scenes are good too. Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo are back yet again, as is Randy Quaid. I still don't really rate the latter's character all that much, pretty annoying in fact (and not in the intended sense); Chase's Clark is supposed to be the idiot here, so always feels odd to have an even bigger idiot. The more sentimental conclusion doesn't totally land, at least in terms of how it's portrayed. It felt watching that it was attempting to be super sensitive about family and love for each other, but these aren't the sort of movies where that fits. The Griswolds are dysfunctional, not lovable or relatable. Still, this is better than I thought it was going to be; especially with the disappearance of the National Lampoon name and the eight-year gap from the previous entry.

The Griswolds are on the loose again. This time in Las Vegas. Unfortunately the movie does not manage to live up to the first two national lampoons movies. It is still Ok but it is somehow partly too serious or does not really seem to know what to do with its characters. Well, if you like the Griswolds, you should still watch it. It is not terrible.

I only watched this because of Chevy Chase and even him is not in his best moment.

_Vegas Vacation_ definitely feels like a stretch in trying to extend the _Vacation_ franchise. Unfortunately, the movie falls far short of measuring up to the original. While there are some funny moments and amusing side characters, the overall plot feels forced and lacks the charm and wit of the first movie. While the film may appeal to die-hard fans of the series, _Vegas Vacation_ is a far cry from the original classic and ultimately feels like a forgettable addition to the franchise.
