Well I enjoyed that film, a good 50s movie, definitely kept me on the chains and love Sidney Poitier, not long back came across him and now watching most of his films. I wish racism didn’t exist, we are all equal!

Has the setup to be one of those awful, predictable, Hollywood movies about Overcoming Racism. But this was better than expected, thanks largely to the two central performances (Poitier especially) and a screenplay that offers no easy answers and veers (not always successfully) into some unexpected places. Could have used less manhunt action, but overall I appreciated this more than I thought I would.

Started watching this and realized the potential pretty quickly. It's great when you find yourself in the middle of a scene or performance, and the thought comes to your mind that, wow, this is an _Oscar_-type movie. For an older movie, great depth and thoughtfulness.

The film tells the story of the escape of a white and a black prisoner at a time when issues such as racism and discrimination were not dared to be addressed in films, and tells a powerful story about discrimination, racism and the depths of human nature. I liked the movie, Tony Curtis and Sidney Poitier are the actors I like. I didn't notice how time passed while watching it, but the ending bothered me. [spoiler] If Johnny had agreed to escape with the woman instead of going to look for Cullen, Cullen would have caught the train and escaped. Johnny would have escaped with the woman with the child, so Cullen and Johnny would have been saved, but they were caught by the captain. [/spoiler]

I liked the movie except for the final image. It reminded me of Sam Jackson and Di Caprio in Django Unchained.
