This is a very good movie. Alison Lohman is a revelation. Michelle Pfeiffer disappears into the psychopath she portrays ("Beautiful, Dangerous, Proud"). The writing is good and insightful. You are carried along on the wave of hope and disillusionment that the script pours out. The supporting cast is masterful. I give this film an 8 (great) out of 10. [Drama]
Been on my list for about three years. And yeah, it does deserve its reputation. Michelle Pfeiffer playing against type as a mother/murderer who is imprisoned and still tries to keep a relationship with her daughter. It doesn't really try to simplify her character as she wallows in contradictions. Very well written in terms of tackling relationships between family members who hate each other and love each other at the same time. Definitely recommended.
I loved the concent of this movie. The subject is important. Many layers great. I loved it.
This film is about a witch mom who tries to ruin her daughter's life. I really felt bad for Astrid, but fortunatly she stood up for herself. When she thought she finally escaped the mom comes tries to come back. Insanely delusional woman. I completly get why Astrid wants her out of her life and it's truely makes me sad that there are womans who ruin a child life like that. The main character is pretty and actually has a great character development throughout the film. This film is so frustrating, not but but frustrating. Plot was okay. The sceens where okay. It was okay. Maybe my hopes were too high. Probably i dont like the film because i moraly condemn Astrid's mother and thats the whole film lol. 2/10 but i give +1 for every girl whose mother is like that and can stand up for herself.
