not a bad whodunit, resolves well. nice shots of Dartmouth. terrible music selection (coming from a big Dave Brubeck fan), just awfully placed, not suited at all.
One of the, if not the worst movie based on an Agatha Christie book. Special note for the music. Good movie soundtrack should add something to the movie, average music should not distract from the movie. This soundtrack is so bad I sometimes muted the movie as the soundtrack drove me crazy
Firstly, the incidental music in this film is abysmal. Some strange lounge/jazz music that overpowers the scenes and is crap anyway! Then, the plot. Ha! I like Agatha Christie but this one starts on a stinker 😂 Guy returns after being away for two years to return a hitchhiker’s address book he left in his car. He finds that on returning that the hitchhiker was executed for murder, but he couldn’t have done it because he was in Calgary’s car when the murder was committed. Ok, fine. But here’s the stinker, Leo Argyle literally states they never bothered taking his claims of innocence seriously that he was hitchhiking at the time. Oh, he sounds like he was a bit of a bad one, but really 🤔 Just let him hang lol! Leo lets his own son die because he wasn’t a decent chap hahaha Pretty terrible film. The plot has so many inconsistencies and I swear Calgary was jumping on the same random boat to get around without asking the owner for permission. Oh, and so many bad accents! Play a game of, is he Scottish or Northern with Elphick’s character though there are some other ham actors. Is there a good thing about this film. Actually, Yes! Agatha was long dead so would never had seen this adaptation, thank god. Rating: Donald Sutherland needed a film to pay his tax bill, probably, so 3/10 for being shameless!
