Emotional porn for adults.... If you believe.... (If you cry four bars into, "The Wizard of Oz," then you could enjoy this.)

I'm not a massive fan of this, I found it a little dull to watch to be honest; admittedly, I'm not a big lover of the 1953 production either - but that is better than this. 2003's 'Peter Pan' is underwhelming. I would've liked to see them take a bigger spin on the original story, like seeing Hook's background in detail or taking a deeper dive into Neverland itself. The casting could've been greater, just like the camera work and colour palette. The special effects are solid, even if they haven't aged incredibly. Jason Isaacs is OK as the antagonist, managing to look as devilish as you'd expect. Jeremy Sumpter (Pan) and Rachel Hurd-Wood (Wendy) are fine, too. No amazing performances here though, in my opinion at least.

I love this recreation of the Peter Pan story. The characters are all perfect in their roles, and the story is really sweet. Effects are great too

The fact that this movie wasn't a run-away box office success is a tragedy. The child actors are all brilliant. Jason Isaacs dual role as Mr. Darling and Hook is top tier. The dialogue is chock full of iconic lines and hilarious deliveries. James Newton Howard's soundtrack delivers some absolute bangers. While the CGI in some moments is starting to show its age, it's usage is limited enough and the practical work is excellent enough that it all works. With respect to story, the first half is about as perfect as perfect can be in terms of pacing. Things start to feel a bit rushed once they start the Peter-Wendy conflict, but the execution is strong enough to sell it and the payoffs all land in spite of the rush. I don't know how someone can watch the payoff of Wendy's reviving kiss without uncontrollably smiling - _'Tis a powerful thing..._. Just an absolute classic.
