Really wanted to like it, but the scenario is absolutely not plausible, therefore impossible to enter into the movie.

Watched on Max. Probably one of the most romantic movies made, and definitely the most romantic movie of this century. The story taken from Dostoyevsky says a lot about this masterpiece. I think this movie made James Gray to become one of the most important filmmakers of the 21st century. Very well adapted to modern New York and the Jewish community living there. I love that movie. Very dramatic, emotional, sad. I think this movie has motivated me to write romantic dramatic stories and maybe even become a screenwriter and filmmaker someday. I wish movies like this were made nowadays. If not, I’ll be the one starting doing it.

This film left a lot to be desired.  On the plus side Phoenix was excellent in playing a rather unbalanced character.  The really odd thing about the film is that it just felt like it was very low-grade.  In a way this film very much reminded me of The Rainmaker with Matt Damon.  That was a film that should have been better than it was and I would say the same about this film. https://IHateBadMovies.com
