8.8/10. A wonderful film that features exciting and imaginative action sequence, that explores the idea of what happens to a toy when its owner outgrows it in a sensitive, meaningful way, and a examines the acceptance of change and how the things that helped us can help someone else just as much. There's Pixar films I like more (some of the second act where Woody is sequestered at Bonnie's and the other toys are discovering Lotso's deal are a little flabby), but it's a wonderful realization of the ideas of friendship, connection, and devotion that the series has been exploring from the very beginning.
A fantastic follow up to Toy Story 1 & 2, it could be a stand alone movie in it's own right. Hilarious at times, yet manages to pull on the heartstrings quite possibly more than any other Pixar movie.
As a Disney fan, I have come to understand that sequels aren't their strong suit. However this film moved me and evoked a range of emotion that I wasn't expecting. Andy's "moving on" and the firescene were nothing short of beautiful. Certainly worth the watch.
“So long…… partner” Toy Story 3 is by far the most emotional movie in the franchise, and it still makes me shed a few tears to this day. It wraps up this amazing trilogy of films absolutely beautifully, and I think it would've been the best possible way to end this franchise for good if Disney weren’t so greedy. It's a perfect conclusion to wrap up the gangs time with Andy, and story wise it's probably the best one we've ever gotten. I think we can all relate to the horrible reality of growing up and no longer wanting to play with toys anymore. It's something that we all go through and it sucks. But while Toys may come and go, it's the memories they bring you that last forever which I believe is the message this film is trying to make. Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the rest of the gang are all brilliant in this, and I really love the big focus on Woody this time around, who's trying to get back to Andy after being donated to Sunnyside daycare. I love how loyal he is to Andy, even if Andy is all grown up now, he's still always there for him no matter what. I always feel bad for Buzz and the gang when they arrive at Sunnyside, which at first looks to be a perfect place for a toy, but under Lotso's control it's a complete and utter nightmare. They get chucked and tossed by chaotic toddlers, and are basically treated like prison inmates by Lotso’s men. I'm glad Woody came back to them in the end, and their escape sequence was awesome to watch. For some reason I always laugh at the part where Mr Potato Head becomes a freaking sausage of all things, and when I saw that for the first time I honestly couldn’t stop laughing. It just looked so weird. I also love Spanish Buzz, who was probably the funniest part of this movie, and it weirdly works so well for him. If that was my toy, I’d probably have in Spanish mode all the time. I mean he can dance, use magnetic boots, and is one hell of a player. Yeah Spanish Buzz is awesome. I think a really good thing about this film in particular is it introduces a whole batch of new characters like Trixy, Dolly, Buttercup, Mr Pricklepants, Chuckles and the list just goes on. All of them are great, and of course we have to mention the fashion icon himself, Ken who’s got some seriously good taste in clothes, and I don’t care what you think, this guys got style. I love the part where he starts trying on all his outfits. He’s so Kenough. The film also introduced the best villain in the franchise, Lotso who I absolutely adore. Yes he’s an evil little shit, but I love him a lot, and he’s one of my favourite Toy Story characters believe it or not. I’d probably say he’s one of my favourite Pixar villains ever, and I even own a plushie of him.. although the Strawberry scent has sadly run out now. It’s vintage, okay The scene where Lotso presses the button to send the gang flying into the Incinerator was absolutely diabolical, and what a crazy moment that was. When I watched that scene for the first time as a kid, I genuinely thought Woody and the gang were all gonna die, and it’s still really intense to this day. But when all is lost you can always count on the claw to save the day. I seriously freaking love those little green dudes. The final scene of the movie always manages to make me sob no matter how many times I’ve seen it. The way Andy gives up his toys to Bonnie genuinely feels like saying goodbye to our whole childhood. It’s super emotional and I don’t think they could’ve given this film a better ending if they tried, it’s so sweet and I love it so much. Toy Story 3 just felt like a massive goodbye to this gang who mean a lot to me, and I wouldn’t change this trilogy for the world. Even if they make a hundred more of these films (and you can bet they will) none of them will ever compare to the first three. It’s one of the greatest trilogy’s of all time, and some of the best Pixar movies ever made. 10/10
"So long, partner." Toy Story 3 wraps up a masterful trilogy that is with no shadow of a doubt perfect to me not many animated franchises are this successful and consistent I’d say only Shrek and how to train your dragon quality wise you could compare it too. I love that even though the story is different in each film it still feels the exact same, we still had the main gang with a ton of new characters introduced in most films you would think this film would be overloaded but Toy Story always does a great job at keeping the old characters fresh while developing new ones. The main plot was seeing a grown up Andy get ready for college and the gang worrying about getting abandoned and forgotten about while woody would still be with Andy on is next adventure in life. We see them end up in a Place called Sunnyside which at first looks like paradise for toys a place where you wouldn’t have to worry about a outgrowing you because there would be a endless crew to replace them for generations, so that sounds great doesn’t it then we Meet Lotso who’s completely taken over sunnyside and turned into a prison he looks lovely at first but in fact he’s the most evilest villain of the entire franchise. We also meet a little girl called Bonnie who’s definitely the female version of a young Andy and she soon took a liking to woody and we then get to meet her toys who were great new characters Mr. Pricklepants ( hedgehog), Buttercup ( unicorn), Dolly (witch), Trixie (triceratops AKA Rex’s love interest) and Chuckles( sad clown) 3 films in and this franchise continues to make unforgettable characters. Buzz goes back to his Toy Story 1 persona thinking he’s an actual Space Ranger after Lotso wanted him to be the one to keep his own friends prisoner, but we also got to meet the other side to him which is romantic, passionate and talented dancer who’s madly infatuated with Jessie French buzz was a cool guy. Ken and Barbie was fun new characters it was hilarious when she was ripping his outfits apart to find out how to change buzz back to normal. The gang’s escape plan was so fun taking out the monkey, Mr potato head trying some new body shape ideas lol, but of course Lotso was to clever and so evil especially when everyone is in the incinerator and woody and buzz save his life and you think ooh maybe there’s a chance of redemption for him but Noooo he’s too far gone. The moment where all the guys were all holding hands was such an emotional moment of course the aliens save the day and finally finishing their dream by using “The claaaaaaaw.” to save them. I think the ending was a fantastic conclusion and a big full circle moment for Andy to hand over his childhood memories to Bonnie that and the Jessie scene from Toy Story 2 stand as my two favourite moments from the franchise. Wish the franchise ended there tbh as that was a pretty untouchable ending but obviously Disney are too greedy, Toy Story 4 and probably 5 and so on will be good but no way will they come close to this trilogy 10/10.
