Enjoyed every second of it. Sure, some of the acting wasn't perfect, and I see that a lot of the reviews here are complaining about that. But who the fuck cares? It's still a good movie, and honestly, it's underrated as fuck.
After hearing for decades about how legendary this film is, I’m convinced I must’ve watched the wrong thing, because Get Rich or Die Tryin’ felt incredibly corny and riddled with cliches. While 50 Cent’s real-life story is undeniably compelling, his transition to the big screen is rocky at best; he struggles to deliver a decent performance, often coming across as wooden amidst a super derivative "hustler-to-hero" plot we've seen done better elsewhere. The music is pretty cool I guess, but it isn't enough to save a movie that feels more like a shallow branding exercise than a gritty cinematic masterpiece.
I'm a fan of 50 Cent; his music reminds me a lot of my high school days. That's why I would definitely see this one. I do like this type of film. Although I probably should have seen more of his career, where he had some hits. But I certainly don't regret watching this one.
I went in with zero expectations, but 50 Cent actually surprised me with his performance. It’s a classic black gangster movie, aiming to tell a rise-from-the-streets kind of story. But honestly, the most compelling part isn’t the rise — it’s everything that comes before. The struggle, the environment, the pain. That’s where the film really connects.
