I agree with most comments around here, but I still globally enjoyed the season. I do regret the lack of usual sarcasm and comedy though. Additionally, I have to sanction my rating because of
the Final Destination scene, the moment they run the code in their system (I’m not an IT engineer, but even I know that these things should be run in a sandboxed environment), and when Tara knew that they managed to ‘blind the enemy’ (I get that it was predictable, but to be so sure that the job was done, and at that specific moment, couldn’t be predicted without verifying)
. Hope the next season will get back to the previous level.
I'm not into this season at all. It lost the sarcasm and irony that characterized this series and which made it unique. Now all the slow horses are poor assholes become caricatures of themselves. The story itself is not standing, it has little depth, and it is all very boring. Too bad, Apple ruined another one after Foundation and Severance.
Its still a good show, but I think the creators/writers have degraded Lamb (Gary Oldman) to just a fun character so far. He is not carrying much importance anymore as in past seasons. Now he most farts and drop one liners. Its a shame because the Lamb character has som much potential and Oldman is star quality brilliant acting as him. The other Slough house actirs carry the story really well though I think.
This season went completely off-piste in relation to the book. I expect TV shows to stray from the source material somewhat, but this season just went off the rails. It would be ok if the changes made any sense, but the new story lines introduced so many plotholes, it just seemed amatuerish. The changes to the Tara plotline just don't make any sense whatsoever. Along with the plot changes, something just felt "different" about this season - the writing in general, the style, the direction - it all just seemed a bit 'off' 😏
Quite possibly the most disappointing season of Slow Horses. This is coming from someone who considers this show to be one of their all time favorites. The writing and story is so dumb. So many levels down compared to the previous seasons. The enthralling storyline was what made me fall in love with the show. I hope the next 2 seasons are not like this.
