Richissime et respectueuse famille du sud de l'Amérique, les Monreaux sont à la tête d'une chaîne de télévision chrétienne très populaire. Quand le patriarche décède lors d'un accident d'avion, son épouse, véritable porte-parole au sein de cette communauté religieuse du sud, et ses enfants tentent de faire face. Eric, le fils ambitieux, entend succéder à son père. Quant à Rose, la fille, elle souffre de l'ombre envahissante de sa mère. Et comme si ça ne suffisait pas, les Monreaux apprennent que le défunt a pas moins de trois enfants illégitimes, Ginger, Antonio et Jason, lesquels figurent en bonne place dans son testament. Margaret, la veuve, va devoir se battre pour garder ces héritiers inattendus dans le rang et sauver la réputation de sa famille.

US adaptations always seem to carry a high risk for some reason or another and it doesn't seem to matter whether people know the original inspiration or not - I don't in this case. However, **the first 3 episodes** got me hopeful enough. The humor sprinkled in there reminds me of "Schitt's Creek" whenever it comes up, and the situations remind me of "The Politician" in how appearances are everything. The cast seems promising in how they blend together, but let's see what happens now that most cards appear to be on the table and the story starts to really develop.
Honestly this show is one of the better shows I've watched in recent times. It is phenomenal, kept me on the edge of my seat and and kept me guessing as to what’s gonna happen next. Lots of twists. Sucks fox decided to cancel it, truly worst decision ever such a great show with so much potential for seasons to come. But it seems it was too expensive to produce due to COVID-19 situation. I really hope one of streaming services picks it up. I would still recommend watching this version. Time to go find the ordinal New Zealand version.
I think there was just too much going on. I am all for complex dramas but there are way too many characters and many of the ladies look similar to each other. The fake brother subplot was promising until Mark did what he did.
At first glance promises .... and everything becomes a smoke and emptiness. A series that has more in common with any soap but with the product you are trying to sell.
